Empowering Communities, Restoring Dignity

Serving Cameroon with Compassion, Action, and Sustainable Solutions Since 2006

Our History – HAICAM’s Journey of Hope and Humanity

Founded with Purpose in 2006

Humanitarian Assistant International Cameroon (HAICAM) was founded in December 2006 in Tiko, South West Region (SWR) of Cameroon by a group of dedicated Cameroonian intellectuals. Motivated by the devastating effects of civil conflict and famine, these visionaries sought to provide immediate relief and long-term development for vulnerable populations.

HAICAM was established as a non-political, non-profit humanitarian organization with a strong mission: to alleviate suffering and restore dignity through sustainable rehabilitation and community development programs.

Early Focus Areas: Emergency & Community Needs

From the outset, HAICAM focused on tackling the most urgent challenges in affected communities. The initial programs addressed:

  • Health and nutrition support

  • Education access and youth engagement

  • Sustainable agriculture and livestock development

  • Peacebuilding and conflict resolution

  • Women empowerment initiatives

  • Environmental sustainability projects

HAICAM also prioritized awareness campaigns on life-threatening diseases, child protection, and disaster response, recognizing that education and prevention are key to lasting impact.

Milestones in Organizational Growth

To increase its capacity and professionalism, HAICAM invested in organizational development by participating in key capacity-building programs. These initiatives offered specialized training in:

  • Governance and leadership

  • Human resources and financial management

  • Project monitoring and evaluation

  • Emergency preparedness and disaster response

As a result, HAICAM now implements projects with enhanced transparency, accountability, and community impact.

Strong Community Roots and Collaboration

Change the world with us

HAICAM quickly earned a reputation as a trusted grassroots organization. Operating mainly in Tiko and Bamenda III, the organization worked closely with:

Local communities, Diaspora partners, International donors and NGOs.

This strong network of collaboration allowed HAICAM to expand its reach, implement targeted programs, and adapt to the evolving needs of the communities it serves.
